Zhangjiajie Tour Highlights

1
Natural Beauty and Unique Landscapes
Zhangjiajie’s landscape is characterized by more than 3,000 quartzite sandstone pillars, some as high as 800 feet, which create a dramatic and surreal environment. These pillars, formed over 300 million years ago, are a result of the erosion of the weaker stone layers, leaving behind the harder rock that we see today.
2
Hiking and Trekking
For enthusiasts of hiking, Zhangjiajie presents a plethora of trails that meander through the forests and ascend the mountains, offering stunning vistas at every twist and turn. The trails come in various levels of difficulty, accommodating both beginners and seasoned hikers alike. The most renowned trail is the one that leads to Hallelujah Mountain, famously featured in the film Avatar.

3
Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge
Spanning an impressive 430 meters across a deep valley, Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge is one of the longest and highest glass-bottom bridges in the world. The bridge is designed to offer visitors a thrilling experience, with its transparent glass panels providing a clear view of the lush forest and the rocky peaks below.

Zhangjiajie Tours FAQs
“Great Customized Service”, “Trip of A Lifetime”, “Exceed All Expectations”
1.Is 2 days enough in Zhangjiajie?
Two days in Zhangjiajie can be enough to see the highlights, but it will be a packed schedule. You can focus on visiting the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, which includes the iconic Avatar Hallelujah Mountains at Yuanjiajie and the natural beauty of Tianzi Mountain. However, to truly experience the park’s grandeur and diversity, 3 to 4 days are more ideal.
2.When to visit Zhangjiajie?
The best times to visit Zhangjiajie are from April to November, with the peak months being April and October . During these times, you can enjoy comfortable weather and fewer rainfalls. Spring (March to May) offers blooming flowers and fresh greenery, while autumn (September to November) provides cooler temperatures and stunning fall colors.
3.How to avoid crowds in Zhangjiajie?
To avoid crowds, visit on weekdays, arrive early when the park opens, and consider walking up and down the mountains to bypass long queues for elevators and cableways. You can also explore less crowded sites like Yellow Stone Village and Yangjiajie, which may require more hiking but offer a more peaceful experience.
4.Is Avatar based on Zhangjiajie?
Yes, Zhangjiajie National Forest Park was the inspiration for the floating Hallelujah Mountains in the movie Avatar. The park’s unique sandstone pillars and lush greenery captivated the film’s director, James Cameron, and influenced the movie’s otherworldly landscapes.
5.Can you recommend a moderate difficulty hiking trail for first-time visitors?
For first-time visitors to Zhangjiajie looking for a moderate difficulty hiking trail, I would recommend the following options:
- Hiking in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park: This park is the first discovered part of the Wulingyuan Scenic Area and offers a range of trails suitable for different fitness levels. A popular and relatively easy to moderate hike is the route that includes Huangshi Village (Yellow Stone Village) and the Golden Whip Stream. Huangshi Village offers spectacular views of the sky-pointing pillars, and the trail at the top is a loop that takes about 3 hours to complete. The Golden Whip Stream trail is flat and easy, making it a relaxing walk alongside the stream.
- Yuanjiajie Scenic Area: This is the most popular site in Zhangjiajie and contains the famous “Avatar Hallelujah Mountain”. The hike here is moderate and should take about 2½ hours.
- Tianzi Mountain:This area is known for its cloud and mist views, especially during spring or early autumn. The hike here is moderate and should take about 2 hours.
- Golden Whip Stream: This is an easy to moderate hike that is both relaxing and scenic. The stream is at the foot of the towering mountains and the hike is approximately 2 hours long. It’s a flat walk with beautiful views, especially the 400-meter-high cliff along the stream.
- Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon:If you have an extra day, consider visiting the Grand Canyon for a moderate hike. After experiencing the world’s longest glass bridge, you can take a scenic walk down into the valley, which lasts for about 2–3 hours. The trail takes you down thousands of stairs and along the river at the bottom, offering beautiful views of overhanging cliffs, waterfalls, and a lush green forest.
