Day 1 Chongqing City Tour
The guide will meet you at hotel lobby and depart from hotel about 8:30 am.
The first stop is hiking Shancheng Alley(Mountain City Trail),Shancheng Trail starts on Tongyuanmen where near Qixinggang and ends by Zhongxing Rd. This walking path is about 1.5km long and takes you downhill from the Tongyuanmen Ancient City wall, walk through consular lane ,Shangcheng lane and end of the Changjiang Bridge. From the top, you get a panoramic view along the Yangtze River bank.
Chongqing is an old city with more than 3,000 years’ history. City walls, alleys as well as gates reflect the long history of Chongqing. With the development of Chongqing, many alleys and gates disappear in real form, but they are memories belong to the old generation. However, those left ones are easy to bring modern people into a sense of resonance. To explore Chongqing in memory becomes one hobby of modern life.
Then go to take Crown Grand Escalator,which is Asia’s second longest escalator with the whole ride. The escalator is 112m long, lift altitude is 52.7m, angle of slope is 30 degree, and the whole tour clocking in at 2 mins and 30 seconds. It is definitely worth a trip as both an example of the unique transportation in the city and how Chongqing has adapted to mountain city life. The escalator connect Lianglukou and Caiyuanba Railway Station, the slope is steep and the speed is fast, the escalator is a convenient way of transportation for local commuting. In the mountain metropolis, there are unique ways of transportation, besides the cableway, the City’s railway transit through a building, the second-longest escalator became popular among tourists due to its unusual way of transit.
The next will walk in the People’s Square and visit Chongqing Great Hall of People from the outside. Built in 1951 and finished in 1954, the Chongqing Great Hall of People is the architectural symbol of Chongqing city. It is designed in the traditional symmetrical style, covering an area of 66 thousands square meters with a 4021-seat auditorium.
Then we will take you to taking monorail for crossing through the big Building of Liziba Station, which is very hot on internet. We will get off monorail and take photo or video from sightseeing platform for seeing the monorail into and out of Liziba the station.
The next stop is visit the Ciqikou Ancient Town, located 14 KM to the west of Chongqing city. It used to be a very important water and land communication hub in the Ming and Qing Dynasties (1368-1911 A.D). Its history can be traced back for more than 1700 years. There are 14 ancient stone slab streets flanked with houses, shops in traditional styles. Tea bars, the local artist studios and the Shu Embroidery workshops are three notable attractions. There are more than a hundred tea bars with their own particular characteristics in such a small town.
