1.What are the best shopping areas in Xiamen?

Some of the top shopping areas in Xiamen include Zhongshan Road for a variety of shops and department stores, SM City Square for a large shopping mall experience, and Jimei District for local markets and traditional products.

Must-visit attractions in Xiamen include Gulangyu Island, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its historic buildings and music culture; the Xiamen University, recognized as one of China’s most beautiful universities; and the Nanputuo Temple, a key Buddhist site. The Hulishan Fortress and the Xiamen Botanical Garden are also popular.

The Fujian Tulou are located in the mountainous areas of Fujian Province, west of Xiamen. To get there, you can take a high-speed train from Xiamen to Nanjing (about 2.5 hours), then rent a car or take a bus to the tulou areas. Organized tours provided by Elephant Travel are also available from Xiamen.

Gulangyu Island is very close to Xiamen, just a short ferry ride away. The ferry terminal is located in the Xiamen Cruise Center, and the trip to the island takes about 5 to 10 minutes.

Lesser-known attractions in Xiamen include the Botanical Garden, which features a large collection of plants in a stunning setting; the Xiamen Museum, offering insight into the region’s history and culture; and the White City Beach, a quieter beach area compared to the more popular ones. The Railway Culture Park is also a unique spot to explore Xiamen’s railway history.
